This jersey was acquired directly from the Avalanche. The jersey shows light overall wear, with some moderate black marks concentrated on the lower sleeves and lower front. It has a nice white mark across the "4" on the back of the shirt. The set mark in the collar shows some smudging. the snap in the fight strap carries a small amount of rust. The jersey features the unique number construction typical of the 97-98's, in which the layering of the numbers is reversed from the traditional top-to-bottom. In this version, the main portion of the number is inlaid, with the two outer colors raised even with each other. On this particular jersey, both the sleeve and back numbers are inlaid, which is not always the case. 97-98 also features the logo-only hem design. Also note the "2", which now shows a flattened tail, instead of the pointed tail from the first two seasons. Overall, a cleaner jersey that displays the Avalanche numbering design very well. The jersey is accompanied by the Avalanche LOA.

Born in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Jon Klemm played four years in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds and Spokane Chiefs. He scored nine points in 15 games while helping the Chiefs win the Memorial Cup in 1991. That season the dependable rearguard was also named to the WHL West Second All-Star Team.
Undrafted, Klemm signed as a free agent with the Quebec Nordiques in May 1991 then spent most of his time in the AHL with the Halifax Citadels and Cornwall Aces while being recalled occasionally by the Nords. He remained with the franchise when it relocated to Colorado and was a valuable component of the defensive corps when the team won the Stanley Cup in 1996. Between 1996-97 and 2000-01 he manned his position consistently, pushed forward for a few goals and won another Stanley Cup ring in 2001.
After ten seasons in the Quebec/Colorado organization, Klemm tested the free-agent market and signed on with the Chicago Blackhawks in the summer of 2001. Used mostly as a defenseman, Klemm is capable of playing the wing and was a durable player for the Hawks up until the early stages of the 2003-04 NHL season.
With the Blackhawks struggling, Klemm was dealt to the Dallas Stars in the early stages of the season. In three seasons with the Dallas Stars, Klemm would compete in 172 games and notch his 100 career NHL assists in the 2006-07 season.
In the summer of 2007, Klemm's stint in Dallas came to an end when the free agent defenseman signed a one-year contact with the Los Angeles Kings.

Traded to Dallas by Chicago with NY Rangers' 4th round choice (previously acquired, Dallas selected Fredrik Naslund) in 2004 Entry Draft for Stephane Robidas and Dallas' 2nd round choice (Jakub Sindel) in 2004 Entry Draft, November 17, 2003. Spent majority of 2006-07 as a healthy reserve. Signed as a free agent by Los Angeles, August 20, 2007.
