Carl Soderberg

Carl Söderberg was born on October 12, 1985 in Malmo, Sweden. A junior star in his homeland, Söderberg was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the second round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Söderberg and the Blues were unable to come to terms and the big centre remained with Malmo where he continued to shine offensively. On July 23, 2007, Söderberg's NHL rights were traded to the Boston Bruins in exchange for Hannu Toivonen.

Söderberg would join Linkopings HC of Sweden's top league for the 2011-12 season. In his first year with the club he produce 14 goals and 21 assists in 42 games. Söderberg would star in his second season for Linkopings. His 31 goals in just 54 games were a league best and his 60 points were good for second place.

On April 9, 2013, Söderberg reached a deal with the Bruins and would join the club for the remainder of the 2012-13 season. He would appear in six regular season games for the club, recording the first assist of his NHL career in his second game, on a goal scored by the legendary Jaromir Jagr. Söderberg would also get his first taste of the NHL's post-season in 2013, appearing in the fifth and sixth games of the Stanley Cup Final against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Due to salary cap concerns, Söderberg was traded to the Colorado Avalanche on June 25, 2015, as he was about to become a free agent. The following day, Söderberg signed a five year extension with the Colorado Avalanche.
