From the second set of alternate jerseys worn this season, the jersey displays the lighter wear typical of a third jersey. There are random black marks along the front white hem. and a couple of light borad burns on the left sleeve. The cuff and inside hem shows some light pilling. The size tag is marked "II" in the collar and the team's registration tag is sewn into the rear hem with the registration number marked in pen. The team's 20th Anniversary patch is sewn on the right chest. The jersey is accompanied by the Avalanche LOA. Acquired from a private collector.

John Mitchell was born January 22, 1985 in Waterloo, Ontario. In 2003, Mitchell was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fifth round of the NHL entry draft, 158th overall. In 2008-09, Mitchell made his NHL debut and one November 1st he scored the first two goals of his NHL career in a game against the New York Rangers, a game in which he was named first star.
Mitchell began the 2010-11 season with the Maple Leafs, but was assigned to the club's AHL affiliate after just 23 games.
On February 28, 2011, the NHL's trade deadline, Mitchell was shipped to the New York Rangers in exchange for a seventh round draft pick.
However Mitchell's stay in New York proved to be short-lived. On July 1, 2012, Mitchell signed a two-year contract as a free agent with the Colorado Avalanche.
