20 Cody McCormick
2003-2004 Ninth Season
CCM/ccm Airknit. Set 1. Neck tagging 56.
NHL-MGG No. B02254
This jersey was worn in the first part of the 03-04 season, and is a true rookie jersey, as these were McCormick's first games in the NHL. The jersey shows very good game wear, and has a nice assortment of black marks throughout the shirt. The right sleeve has a very nice concentration of marks in the elbow and forearm area, as well as a smaller blue board mark. There is some filth in the collar area as well. The jersey underwent a number change early in the year, as McCormick began the season wearing number 22, but changed to 20 when Steve Konowalchuk was acquired from Washington. There are no visible remnants of the old number, however you can see that the rear "0" was stitched with a different thread than the "2". Although the jersey was only worn for a couple of games as number 22, the team opted to change the digit, as opposed to transferring the shirt to Konowalchuk, because Konwalchuk wore size 58, while McCormick wore a 56. The Meigray tag is sewn in the rear hem, and the jersey is accompanied by the NHL-MGG LOA.

Cody McCormick was born April 18, 1983 in London, Ontario. The fifth choice, 144th overall selection of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, McCormick is a graduate of the OHLs Belleville Bulls.
After three seasons in Belleville, McCormick had a breakout year in 2002-03, tallying 69 points (36-33-69) in 61 games and was selected an OHL First Team All-Star. A tenacious worker, the London, Ontario native was voted as the Best Checker and Best Body Checker in the OHL in 2002-03.
Coming off a career year with Belleville, McCormick made his NHL debut with the Avalanche in 2003-04 and went on to split the season between the Avs and their AHL affiliate in Hershey. After spending another year with the Hersey Bears due to the NHL lockout, McCormick spent most of his time with the Avalanche and helped the club reach the NHL playoffs. He struggled to stay in the line-up during the 2006-07 season, and a series of injuries limited him to 40 games with the Avs the following season.
Following the 2008-09 season with Colorado in which Cody would appear in 55 games, McCormick would sign a one-year deal with the Buffalo Sabres.
McCormick would appear in 81 games for the Sabres during the 2011 season. His 142 penalty minutes were the most on the club and his 16 fighting majors were ninth most in the NHL.
