TThis alternate is from the first of two sets, and according to statistics, was worn five of the six games this set was used. The jersey shows predictably lighter wear, with marks in the sleeves, and a decent blue board scuff in the left elbow area. There are a few light marks in the rear numbers. Close examination under the light shows random marks throughout the burgundy portions of the shirt. The jersey is accompanied by the Avalanche LOA.

Dan Hinote, though born in the United States, decided instead to pursue his Junior hockey career in Canada. In 1996 he headed to Oshawa, Ontario to join the OHL's Oshawa Generals and spent two seasons toiling for them, after spending the previous year playing with Army of the ECAC.
Hinote had aspirations of being an F.B.I. agent, but soon it became obvious that he possessed the skills for a future in hockey. The Colorado Avalanche drafted him in 1996 and he turned professional a year and a half later.
The Avalanche's farm club, the Hershey Bears brought Hinote on board midway through the 1997-98 campaign, and he struggled to adapt to the faster more physical pro game. The following year he improved his play but it wasn't until his third year with the Bears that he really enjoyed a break out.
In 1999-00 Hinote was so impressive in training camp with Colorado that he actually cracked the roster. His strong physical play and willingness to take the body earned him his first NHL games. In 27 NHL games Hinote scored a goal and added three assists, but showed real offensive potential during the time he spent back with the Bears.
In Hershey Hinote was an All-Star on the strength of 28 goals and 59 points in just 55 games. His play not only earned him an All-Star berth but he was also named the team's Most Improved Player.
His hard work paid off in 2000-01 as Hinote became a full-time NHL player. His great skating, coupled with a willingness to grind it out in the corners earned him a spot on the Avalanche's checking line. In 76 games that season he contributed five goals and 15 points, but the post-season is where his real accomplishments came. In 23 playoff games the versatile forward added two more goals and six more points while helping his team win hockey's ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup.
Hinote upped his goal total by one in 2001-02 despite being limited to just 58 games as the result of a shoulder injury. Hinote was unable to add a second Cup ring that summer to his trophy case, though he did score a goal and two assists in the playoffs before he and his team mates were eliminated by the eventual champions from Detroit.
Over the course of the next two seasons, Hinote was limited to 60 and 59 games due to injuries.He would return healthy in 2005-06 and compete in 73 games with Colorado registering 13 points. Following his six seasons with Colorado, Hinote was signed as a free agent by the St. Louis Blues in the summer of 2006.
